Food Manufacturing



As a food paradise, Singapore has a growing appetite for food manufacturing businesses with the industry contributing a significant slice to our economy. In 2016, the Food Manufacturing industry added S$3.8 billion to our GDP, and employed about 30,000 workers.

Food manufacturers are also spreading our food heritage abroad with local food products found around the region and beyond. In fact, more than half of the industry’s output is exported. Our excellent reputation for quality and safety also gives consumers, at home and abroad, greater assurance in our food products.

The Food Manufacturing Industry Transformation Map (ITM) was developed to help food manufacturers upgrade and innovate to keep pace with changing consumers’ tastes and advancing technology. The national plan to revamp industries will see productivity grow an average of 4.5% and create 2,000 new jobs for the industry by 2020. It also aims to develop Singapore into a leading food and nutrition hub in Asia by 2025.
